April Prayer Points

April 22, 2015

Much has happened in the last couple months… here are just a few of our Prayer Points:

  • We praise God for providing us with another US organization, World Outreach Ministries, and for granting us continued partnership with International Teams Netherlands, to continue His work in Uganda. Click here for information on how to financially support us.
  • We praise God for all of the encouragement, love, and prayers we have received from so many of you during our transition to a new organization. We are so thankful for the visits of Angie’s sister, Jenna, and her four children, and of Tim’s parents. It has been great to share our lives with them and show them (and in so doing be reminded of) all that God is doing here in Soroti and beyond.

  • Pray for the rest of our team (Shaardas, Tiesengas, Karen Lubbers, Jennifer Kragt) as they are also transitioning to new organizations to continue their ministry work in Uganda.
  • We continue to move forward with the Beyond Fishcage Project – the community water access points on each side of the property and dock have been constructed and the land has been cleared. Please pray that God would provide an excavator to dig out the hatchery pond before the rains come in full force. Click here for photos.

  • Pray for our dear, long-time friend Angelina, who recently became paralyzed on the left side of her body due to a stroke (possibly a tumor). Stricken with blindness as a child, she is so very passionate about reaching out with the love of Jesus to people with disabilities, the outcasts of society. If you remember, we had walked alongside her and her son Ben during his last year-and-a-half of life, while he was battling cancer (see these blog posts: Ben’s Fight, Ben’s Ups and Downs, Ben on Chemo, Remembering Ben; and this newsletter). Angelina is traveling to Mulago hospital in Kampala with her other two sons, Patrick and Kenneth, for more tests this week.

  • Praise God for Steve Tiesenga’s continued development of Beyond Pamba Rental business, providing sustainability for the Beyond Pamba Resource Centre, income and discipleship for their employees, and a much needed service to the community, churches and ministries of Pamba and beyond.

  • Finishing up his 2nd year and performing very well, Pius Emesu (featured in this newsletter) has been working hard toward getting his Bachelor Degree in Bible, Theology and Business at Africa Bible University (ABU). He is so excited about the transformation that he has experienced and the truth that he is discovering, especially in regards to God’s grace and covenant love, that he can’t help but share it with his family and friends back here in Soroti. As a result, three other young, godly and ministry-focused men, Fred, Basil and Lazarus, have decided to follow in Pius’ footsteps and attend ABU to better prepare themselves for greater impact for and with Jesus in Soroti and beyond. We praise God that they have passed their entrance exams and interviews and have been accepted to begin in September. All that is needed now are the funds, approximately $1,500 per semester. Please let us know if you feel led to sponsor any of them.

Greetings, That is great news to hear that you can continue HIS ministry in Uganda.  Just also read the Shaarda email.  God is Good! We’ll do three weeks in Nigeria a week from Monday and a few days in Holland on the way back.  The Visas are between Ottawa and Chatham.  Combined Secondary School is celebrating 50 years and they want to thank God so asked us to join them, how could we say no. In His service together,Dick and Margaret
